Teen Charged As Adult After HS Football Player, 14, Killed In Maryland Shooting: Police

A 16-year-old will be charged as an adult after a 14-year-old high school football player from Harford County was shot in the head and died from his injuries.

Jai'den Alexander Winchester has been identified by the Aberdeen Police Department as the person who was found shot shortly before midnight on Saturday night.

Following the fatal shooting, police say that a 16-year-old from Havre de Grace has been arrested and charged as an adult with: 

  • First- and second-degree murder;
  • First-degree assault;
  • Reckless endangerment;
  • Multiple weapons offenses.

Officials made note that "despite social media comments, detectives have found no evidence to indicate that this was an accidental shooting." 

Officers were called to the 200 block of Center Deen Avenue on Nov. 2 to investigate a reported shooting, where Winchester was unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head and in cardiac arrest.

First responders rendered aid, but the teen died at the scene of the shooting.

No additional details were released about the shooting suspect.

The shooting remains under investigation.
